Fargo's Souls Mod v1.4.2 served to vastly improve the mod in every respect possible, revolutionize gameplay with a slew of highly engaging new mechanics, add another 200 hours of polished content, fully flesh out the deeply moving and philosophically stimulating lore, fix every bug forever, and perfect balance to a point that no further balance changes will be needed again ever.

As all followers know, the Fargo Expanded Universe Team will be moving on to developing a movie and standalone game trilogy. Fargo's Mods will remain available for posterity but will receive no further updates as the team moves on to larger projects and is confident the mod will remain timelessly relevant to the human experience. Changes

Enchantment Accessories

  • Gladiator Enchantment nerfed, no longer benefits twice from class damage scaling
  • Tungsten Enchantment visual bug fixes when used with these weapons
  • Ninja Enchantment reworked
    • Removed Force/Wizard effect of triple speed
    • Gives +100% weapon use speed
    • Halves all affected damage
    • Halves enemy i-frames
    • Fixed it not reducing damage on certain projectiles shot by summons
    • Fixed effect benefiting from Terra Force instead of Shadow Force
    • Fixed defense shred ignoring damage penalty (e.g. Ichor, armor penetration)
    • Can affect "held projectile" weapons e.g. Phantasm, Last Prism, Vortex Beater
  • Molten Enchantment buffed, Force/Wizard increases range
  • Obsidian Enchantment rebalanced
    • Capped explosion at 300 base damage (before damage scaling)
    • Removed Cascade from recipe, making it pre-Skeletron
    • Increased explosion cooldown from 30 to 40 ticks
  • Bee Enchantment nerfed, no longer benefits twice from class damage scaling
  • Necro Enchantment buffed
    • Skulls prioritize attacking bosses whenever possible
    • Fixed Force graves floating away
    • Fixed spawning graves that do no damage when killing destructible projectiles
    • Raised grave cap from 5 to 15, capped bosses at spawning up to 45 at once (previously unlimited) for performance
    • Visual adjustments
  • Wizard Enchantment bug fixed, tooltip provides info for enchantments in seventh slot
  • Pearlwood Enchantment nerfed, no longer benefits twice from class damage scaling. Recipe now uses Pearlwood Sword instead of Star Cannon
  • Mythril Enchantment nerfed, has 5 second max cooldown (previously 3) and Force gives up to +75% attack speed (previously +100%)
  • Adamantite Enchantment nerfed
    • No longer always round down i-frames
    • Fixed defense shred ignoring damage penalty (e.g. Ichor, armor penetration)
    • Spears no longer interact with projectile splitting mechanic, but projectiles fired from spears can still split
  • Titanium Enchantment rebalanced
    • Has 50 base damage with no scaling, previously could scale with damage bonuses
    • Force/Wizard gives it 50 damage with scaling, previously was 120 with scaling
    • Damage reduction buff always lasts 4 seconds, beginning from when you are hit
    • You cannot gain shards while damage reduction is on cooldown
  • Ancient Hallowed Enchantment recipe changed, no longer uses Silver Enchantment
  • Tiki Enchantment nerfed, whipping minions only gives them 0.25 seconds of guaranteed crits (was 1 full second)
  • Spooky Enchantment bug fixed, minions are no longer prevented from firing scythes because they are standing on the floor

  • Box of Gizmos nerfed, spelunker effect requires you to not use any items in addition to standing still
  • Supreme Deathbringer Fairy tooltip updated to say correct Berserk Install input
    • Berserk Install now takes priority over Twins Install, pressing the key once will not install both anymore
  • Frigid Gemstone stops mana regeneration when used (can no longer be fired infinitely with base mana)
  • Magical Bulb bug fixed, no longer throws error in multiplayer

Weapons

Other Changes

  • Attack speed modifiers heavily nerfed overall by rounding up the final use time
  • Fixed exploit that allowed Phantasm to shoot over 200 projectiles per second if the projectile array limit was reached
  • Most projectile deletion effects, e.g. Champion of Earth's hands, no longer affect Lunar Flare and Nuke Fishron
  • Fixed the temporary debuff immunity system used by parries, Turtle Enchantment, and some others - no longer allows attacks to refresh the duration of debuffs that were inflicted before you gained the temporary immunity

  • Adjusted spawn conditions of Lava Slime and Fire Imp outside of the Underworld
  • Reduced modified spawn rates overall
  • Mimics have 0.5x damage in pre-hardmode, was 0.75x

Bosses

    • Head segments and the body segment immediately following the head now use "mass defense":
      • Grants increased defense, damage reduction, and limited life regeneration
      • Temporarily disabled when the boss has been split into enough worms at once
      • Permanently disabled when reduced to very few total segments
  • Brain of CthulhuBrain of Cthulhu
    • No longer inflicts a million debuffs per hit
    • Laser hitboxes adjusted to prevent it from passing harmlessly through the player
    • Phase 2 clone is initially translucent and becomes more solid as life decreases, making it more clear that it is fake and not real
    • Phase 2 heavily nerfed, lasers do not begin until below 50% life
    • Boss life buffed 25%

    • Rain heart attack nerfed, falling hearts have much less horizontal drift to make the attack more comprehensible

    • Above 3 attacks are replaced by a new attack with 3 variations that makes use of new sprite
    • Minigun reworked making use of new sprite
    • Slight sound tweaks
    • Removed several attacks from masochist desperation
    • Reduced damage dealt slightly
    • Increased DR when resistant to 75% from 66%, compensating for difficulty nerfs with less cheesability
    • Added line telegraphs to p3 nuke tp, plunge, minigun
    • Moves towards you if you move too far away during slurp n burp
    • Reworked hexagonal area (previously random attacks) attack
    • Tons of projectile resprites and visual changes
    • Massively decreased the size of the slurp & burp attack projectiles as part of the resprite
    • Added randomness to telegraphed lasers attack during rune expansion attack
    • Changed crosshair telegraph of second part of reaction crosshair attack to line telegraphs
    • Some internal optimization and refactors
