Champion of Timber is a post-Moon Lord miniboss.

Summoning

Champion of Timber does not spawn on its own and must be summoned by the player by using the Sigil of Champions while in the Purity biome during the day.

Attacks

Champion of Timber’s attacks are all based on the Force of Timber’s enchantments, bar two which are also based on the Top Hat Squirrel.

Expert Mode

Only gains boosted stats.

Eternity Mode

Jumps now generate horizontal chain explosions. Gains a second phase after its fake out death.

First phase

Champion of Timber follows a set pattern, jumping towards the player between every attack, then repeating after completing the final attack. Its jump speed is increased the further the player is from itself.

• Shoots multiple clusters of gravity affected acorns at the player, with their velocity increasing the further the player is from itself.
• Leaps several times towards the player.
• Fires several waves of snowballs towards the player.
• Launches multiple Top Hat Squirrels around. While they do no contact damage, they will explode when slain or after a bit of time, sending their souls towards the player as homing bolts. The souls inflict Hexed for 3 seconds and Reverse Mana Flow for 9 seconds regardless of difficulty.
• Leaps several times towards the player.
• Fires more snowballs that act identically to the prior attack.
• Repeatedly aims a grappling hook at the player and pulls itself towards them, swinging around the hook location for a bit.
• Below 66% HP, summons a Palm Tree turret that lingers for the rest of this phase, firing spreads of acorns and leaping at the player if they get too far. Summons a second one below 33% HP.

Champion of Timber goes into phase 2 after "dying" in Eternity Mode.

Second phase

Champion of Timber becomes a floating head in this phase, gaining new attacks and mobility.

• Launches a large Top Hat Squirrel that explodes shortly after, creating a laser rain that only gets stopped by Champion of Timber itself or blocks.
• Shoots faster clusters of acorns, the aim changes to predict the player's horizontal movement.
• Fires multiple increasingly dense spreads of snowballs towards the player.
• Drops harmless acorns that rapidly grow into trees on the ground, which then launch a spray of damaging acorns upwards, their velocity depending on how high the player currently is and how much the player is moving. At the same time, throws out a large number of Lesser Squirrels that explode similarly to how they did in the first phase.
• Rapidly circles the player and throws out many harmless hooks in their general direction, before pausing and electrifying the chains to deal damage.
• Generates an aura arena around itself to trap the player before throwing out a Top Hat Squirrel, which creates an electric sphere that fires increasingly dense rings of lasers. The lasers will be blocked by the Champion of Timber itself.
• Shoots more acorn clusters.
• Launches 5 streams of gravity affected snowballs upwards, which start out translucent and inoffensive before becoming fully opaque and dangerous.

Trivia

• The music that plays during Champion of Timber's battle is Ordeal by Sakuzyo.
  • Its old theme was Full Force by Universe.
  • If the Fargo's Music Mod add-on is disabled, Boss 1 (Otherworldly) will play instead. It shares this trait with the rest of the Champions, apart from Eridanus.
• If the Boss Checklist Mod is installed, its unique despawn message will be "Champion of Timber returns to its squirrel clan..."

• Lesser Squirrel: "These little critters helped build the Trojan Squirrel. Not aware of the small explosives attached to them."
• The boss can occasionally soft-lock the game. During one attack while you are getting pulled towards the boss, you can sometimes be teleported somewhere in the sky. If this happens, you can't move, look around, see your character, use items, or seemingly even die. The camera is simply stuck viewing the sky.
