Lifelight
Lifelight is a Hardmode boss. While it can be summoned as soon as Hardmode is initiated, it is recommended to fight it after defeating all mechanical bosses.
Summoning
Lifelight is summoned by using Crystalline Effigy in Hallow during daytime.
Behavior
At the start of the fight and Phase 2, every available attack will be stored in a list. When an attack is chosen, an attack will be randomly picked out of and removed from this list. When the list is empty, it refills with the available attacks.
This effectively means that the boss will always go through all of the attacks of each phase (in a random order) before repeating them.
- Lifelight's Damage resistance also applies to damage over time debuffs.
Expert Mode
After falling below 66% Health and finishing the current attack, the boss enters a phase transition and initiates Phase 2, with a set of new and improved attacks.
Phase transition: Damage Reduction is increased to 87.5% while below threshold until the phase transition ends.
Eternity Mode
In phase 1, passively fires a life bomb every few seconds, regardless of the current attack state.
Masochist Mode
An arena surrounds the boss, preventing players from leaving. This arena is locked in place during charge attacks. Several changes to attacks, listed in their descriptions.
Attacks
Attack | Phase 1 | Phase 2 |
---|---|---|
Opening | The boss appears at the top of the screen, being invulnerable at the start of the fight. It then summons its golden shard shield at the edges of the screen, which gradually moves inwards. Once the golden shield has reached its normal orbit, the boss's other parts appear, it becomes vulnerable then the fight begins. | - |
Lifeshot Barrage | Three barrages of splitting life shots are rapidly fired: one straight towards the player, and two at even mirrored angles from the first barrage, which contract over time to make the angle between the barrages smaller. | - |
Mines | Fires a random spread of non-damaging projectiles towards the player, which explode into damaging Life Mines that linger at their position. Repeated three times. | - |
Lightbomb | Fires a Lightbomb towards the player, which explodes into a circle of life shots, after moving outward for long enough these shots split even more. Lightbombs explode into more shots. |
Marks the players current position, before teleporting to it, firing a spread of telegraphed cross shots and Lightbombs. Lightbombs explode into more shots. |
Pixies | Spawns a set of pixies near the boss, that home towards the player. | Makes a screaming sound, and then charges 6 times towards the player while spawning a trail of homing pixies. |
Reaction Shotgun | One crosshair appears at each side of the player, relative to the boss. After a delay, one of these is chosen and removed, and shortly after, repeated quick waves of life shots are shot towards the remaining crosshair. | Same as Phase 1 version, but with another set of outer crosshair and waves of life shots, instead only making a small gap at the chosen crosshair. Periodically fires one/three telegraphed barrage(s) towards the player while stuck in the zone. |
Rune Expansion | The boss enters its shelled form as the circle of Life Runes around then boss fly out in a spiral pattern from the boss while speeding up, forming an outer border instead. Then, they contract back to the boss and slow back down. | Same as Phase 1 version, but time between expansion and contraction is longer, and telegraphed circles of life shots are fired from the boss during this window. |
Deathray Spin | - | Acts as a transition to phase 2. Fires a wave of Mines while entering shelled form then Conjures a giant Holy Deathray pointed away from the player, which rotates roughly 2 full rotations. Lifelight is immune to damage while the Holy Deathray is active. |
Crystalline Congregation | - | Spawns small crystal balls in a spiral pattern far away from the boss, which are sucked in to the boss' center, before being shot out in a random spread towards the player. Creates a stream of life waves targeting the player. |
Charge (variant 1) | - | Makes a screaming sound, before charging at the player and releasing a circle of cross projectiles. Charge is repeated 6 times. |
Charge (variant 2, teleporting) | - | Makes a screaming sound while marking a random spot near the player with a light, before teleporting to the marked spot, releasing a circle of cross shots, and charging towards the player. Teleport and charge is repeated 6 times. |
Plunge | - | Marks a spot directly above the player with a light, before teleporting to it, and quickly charging downwards while unleashing a spread of cross shots with negative gravity. The plunge is repeated twice. |
Enchanted Lifeblade Hexagon | - | A spread of shots form a hexagonal arena around the player. If you leave this arena, a new one will be fired around you. While in this arena, 6 lingering swords are launched from the boss, that gravitate towards the player. The swords have higher speed and gravitation towards the player. |
Running Cross Shot Barrage | - | Makes a roaring sound, before flying towards the player while repeatedly firing two sets of cross shots. The angle of the cross shots expands and contracts twice before the attack ends. |
Desperation | - | Always happens when below 10% Health. The boss gains 87.5% damage reduction and heals off damage until this attack is over, after which it will stop attacking. Makes an arena of bouncy blocks around the player, before unleashing a series of attacks: -Hovers above the player while repeatedly firing Lightbombs (which explode into a circle of life shots) diagonally upwards, and a slow barrage of cross shots downwards. - Spawns a circle of 12 deathray launchers around the arena. After a short delay each launcher will fire a Life Deathray towards the center. - Quickly spawns deathray launchers around the arena in a circular pattern, forcing the player to rapidly spin around the arena to keep up. After this attack ends the arena disappears and the boss dies automatically. |
