The more the world eater splits, the more worms can rush you at once. The head is extra sturdy now, but don't let them pile up too much!

Eternity Mode Eater of Worlds is a pre-Hardmode boss. It is a more powerful version of the Eater of Worlds with more attacks and new behavior.

Behavior

  • The Eater of Worlds' AI changes mainly focus on more coordinated attacks between the segments and long-ranged damage options that inflict harmful debuffs such as Cursed InfernoCursed Inferno.
  • Heads and immediately following segment have +30 defense 50% damage reduction and limited regeneration up to 50% unless there is a sufficient amount of heads or too few total segments
  • All body segments will periodically fire a barrage of Cursed Flame.gifCursed Flames at the player's position. The gathered fireballs will linger for a moment before redirecting themselves towards the player, firing sequentially at them.

The Cursed Flame.gifCursed Flame attack fires many more fireballs at a much faster rate.

  • The Eater of Worlds itself will also occasionally gather under the player then lunge upwards, followed by a u-turn as they dive back down, attempting to land on the player; this lunge attack will be performed simultaneously by all segments of the boss, regardless of how small they are. While lunging, head segments take significantly reduced damage and the worms temporarily gain the ability to fly as they position themselves above the player.
  • All head segments constantly breathe a short-ranged Cursed Flamethrower, outside of the lunging.
  • Vile spit can no longer be destroyed and explodes into an 8 way burst of purple solution upon expiring, spreading the Corruption.

Notes

  • Unlike in Expert Mode, segments don't drop Demonite Ore and Shadow Scales, but instead Eater of Worlds drops more of these materials on defeat to compensate.
  • Eater of Worlds cannot fire Cursed Flames throughout the u-turn attack.
  • Cursed Flames shot by segments are transculent and don't deal damage before redirecting themselves.
  • The Eater of Worlds drops Wormy Food on spawn if it hasn't been defeated yet.

Tips

  • Due to more attacks and debuffs, it is not as easy to simply tank the Eater of Worlds underground, so it's heavily recommended to fight it on the surface with a proper arena. Note that the boss enrages on the surface in 1.4.

Trivia

  • If the Eternity Mode Recolors option is turned on in the Mod Configurations menu, it resembles The Crimson.

History

  • 1.6.6: Biome spray reduced in Masochist Mode
