“That metal worm has a few upgrades, but its probes were downgraded to compensate. It will start shooting homing dark stars and flying. When it coils around you, don't try to escape!
— Deviantt
The Eternity Mode Destroyer is a Hardmode boss. It is a more powerful version of The Destroyer with more attacks and new behavior.
Behavior
- Any projectile that hits the destroyer has its damage reduced by 25%, stacking multiplicatively.
- Probes have 450/675 health, no lasers, and constantly circle the player until killed, acting as meat shields. (Probes have vanilla movement.)
Phase 1
The Destroyer acts identically to its vanilla ai with some changes.
- Death Lasers rapidly from its segments with increased accuracy with less random variation on their aim and their speed scales based on the distance between the player and the segment that fired it.
- If a segment's light is dim, it loses the ability to fire Death Lasers and instead fires homing Electric Orbs, though less frequently. These Electric Orbs act identically to Eternity Mode Brain of Cthulhu's phase 1 Golden Showers. The rate of Electric Orb fire increases as The Destroyer's health decreases.
Under 75%/95% health, The Destroyer enters phase 2.
Phase 2
The Destroyer gains the ability to fly and can ram the player more effectively, with its speed increasing as its health decreases. The Destroyer stops all normal shooting. The Destroyer gains 4 new attacks which it uses in the following order:
- Coil: The Destroyer indicates this attack is about to begin with a purple circle indicator the collapses on the head. The Destroyer begins to coil around the player with a magnetic anti-aura trapping them inside. The Head shoots spreads of 3 Electric Orbs and rings of accelerating Death Lasers move from the body to the center of the coil; the number of lasers increases as health decreases. (Always shoots maximum number of Lasers.)
- Destroyer has 100% Damage reduction during this attack.
- The spreads of Orbs fire less rapidly if the player has lightning rod.
- Probe Barrage: The Destroyer attempts to ram the player while Probes move in pars to 2 random positions around the player, glow red for a brief period, and then fire a Death Laser at them. (Probes fire 3 times as often.)
- Lightshow: The Destroyer indicates this attack with a yellow collapsing circle indicator. The Destroyer begins the attack with a misleading dash that always misses the player. Many line indicators appear from the worm's segments, light blue indicators from glowing segments fire accelerating Death Lasers, while yellow indicators from deactivated segments fire accelerating, non-homing Electric Orbs, and white indicators that appear after projectiles are fired show their final path. (Lacks white indicators, does not deliberately miss dash.)
- The Destroyer tends to ram the player near the end of this attack.
- Electric Pulse: The Destroyers various segments fire volleys of Electric Orbs that organize into non-homing, accelerating, straight spreads that become denser as health decreases.
- The Destroyer deliberately avoids getting too close during this attack.
Below 40%/80% health, The Destroyer begins passively spawning probes if there are less than 10 alive, with a 10%/ 20% chance every 1-7 seconds.
Under 10% health, The Destroyer enters phase 3.
Phase 3
The Destroyer enters an endless coil until defeated. It will rapidly fire a stream if homing Electric Orbs in a clockwise pattern, though it still has the Death Lasers from the previous phase. It starts with 100% damage reduction, but this diminishes to 50% as the attack goes on. In phase 3, all of The Destroyer's defense is removed.
