That overgrown plant inflicts a special venom that works her into an enraged frenzy. She also has a ring of crystal leaves, but minions go through it.

For the vanilla page, see Plantera.

Eternity Mode Plantera is a Hardmode boss. She is a more powerful version of Plantera with more attacks and new behavior.

Behavior

Plantera's attacks apply stacking Ivy VenomIvy Venom, once the timer reaches 20 seconds it upgrades to NeurotoxinNeurotoxin, dealing massive damage over time.

Phase 1

  • Plantera is surrounded by a spinning ring of 5 CrystalLeaf.png Crystal Leaves.
    • These Crystal leaves are destructible, they will block attacks for her and draw in homing projectiles. (Crystal leaves are unkillable, but still block projectiles.)
    • Plantera periodically shoots this ring of Crystals in the direction of the player, each crystal then fires Crystal Leaf shots as they travel, Plantera respawns this ring shortly after. (Ring predicts the player's movement when shot.)
    • Every third ring shot, and after a delay, Plantera will let out a hiss causing all Crystal Leaf shots to redirect to the player's location.
  • Dicer projectiles bounce and then turn into Dicer Mines; these mines are harmless but then grow and explode into a short-ranged burst of damaging leaves, the mine repeats this action 4 times before disappearing.(Uses poisonous leaves instead)
  • Plantera summons 3 fast moving and propagating Dicer Mines at the player's position, these behave identically to their phase 2 variant, however Plantera will continue to fire her Crystal Leaves.

Below 50% health, Plantera enters phase 2.

Phase 2

  • Gains 50% damage reduction.
  • Plantera tracks the player very aggressively.
  • Plantera retains her first Crystal Leaf ring from phase 1, but no longer redirects her Crystal Leaf shots.
  • Spawns an additional ring of many more Crystal Leaves that do not shoot but spiral in and out from the boss, otherwise behaving identically to the Phase 1 variant.
  • Plantera's Tentacles actively try to avoid the player and serve as Plantera's Meat Shields.
  • Periodically shoots out 2 volleys of Planty Tentacles that surround the player and attach to blocks. the vines they are attached to also deal damage. The spiraling leaf crystal ring is deactivated during the attack.
    • During this attack Plantera's movement is almost entirely halted. (Plantera retains some movement.)
  • Periodically summons 3 propagating Dicer Mines around herself; these Mines are harmless but move swiftly and duplicate themselves creating exploding Dicers each time they duplicate, quickly creating a minefield.
    • Plantera will not fire her Crystal Leaves while the minefield is active.

Phase 3

All previous behavior is overridden as Plantera enters this phase.

  • Plantera is glows dark blue.
  • Damage reduction lowered to 40%.
  • Plantera's smaller shield is always present but no longer shot at the player.
  • Plantera attempts to move to the celling of the area and stay there while following above the player.
  • Plantera summons a semi-circle of invulnerable Angry TrapperPlantera Trappers, Man EaterPlantera Man Eaters, and SnatcherPlantera Snatchers below the player. These Trappers act as an arena and are attached to a semi-circle which follows below Plantera, their movement acts similarly to their enemy variant.

Plantera cycles between 3 attacks:

  • Crystal Madness: Plantera's shield fires Crystal Leaf shots, similar to the previous phases, after firing for a while she uses her redirecting hiss, identically to phase 1.
  • Chakram Barrage: Plantera summons a volley of Planty Tentacles to cut off one of her sides, then repeatedly fires 2 wide volleys of Plantera Thorn Chakrams at the player, one volley slower than the other. This is then repeated with the Tentacles on the opposite side. (Chakram barrages are much denser and constantly fired throughout the entire attack.)
  • Tentacle Funnel: Plantera summons 2 volleys of Planty Tentacles to surround the player, similar to phase 2, this attack leaves much less space. While the player is surrounded Plantera repeatedly fires loosely homing PlanteraMushroomThing.gif Plantera Mushroom Things, with a gap every 3 shots. (Fires significantly faster)

Notes

  • Plantera drops a Plantera's Fruit on spawn if it hasn't been defeated yet.
  • When the Eternity Mode Recolors option is turned on, all base projectiles and visuals are recolored to match the Eternity Mode palette, the same applies to custom projectiles and the vanilla palette if the option is disabled, save the Plantera Man Eaters and Trappers, which always resemble their enemy variants.
  • The boss has 75% damage resistance against the Fetid Baghnakhs.
  • While a Plantera is alive, the player is always considered in The Jungle biome, however, she will still enrage and take drastically reduced damage and gain increased attack speed when on the surface.
  • The leaf crystals cannot be hit by whips.

Tips

  • Chlorophyte ammo and other homing is ineffective against Plantera due to the leaf crystals being NPCs.
  • All the attack changes make it significantly harder if not impossible to circle Plantera depending on the state of the fight.

Trivia

  • If the Eternity Mode Recolors option is turned on in the Mod Configurations menu, it resembles Glowing Mushrooms.

History

  • 1.6.6:
    • Fixed despawning when near the edge of the trapper arena in Phase 3
    • Increased spread of p3 chakrams, outside Masochist Mode
    • Increased delay before rapid-fire triple shots
    • Improved projectile visibility, tweaked a few sprites and fixed some inconsistencies
